GEORGETOWN MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENT EXCELS AT

DELAWARE BUSINESS PROFESSIONALS OF AMERICA LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE

A student from Georgetown Middle School excelled at the 2017 Delaware State Business Professionals of America Leadership Conference on February 22, 2017, held at Dover Downs Hotel and Conference Center.

Osberto Gomez Santana and his GMS Chapter joined more than 800 middle level students from across the state of Delaware. All members participated in business skill competitions, workshops, and open events.

During the state conference Osberto placed 1st in Financial Literacy and 2nd in Business Math Concepts. These victories have earned Osberto the right to travel to Orlando, Florida in May to compete at the National level.  Students from 25 different states and Puerto Rico will compete in Business related events over the course of the 5 day event.

Overall, Georgetown Middle School students placed in the top 20 in numerous events such as Business Communication Skills, Business Fundamental Concepts, and Computer Literacy.

“It was extremely exciting to watch Osberto walk the stage to accept his award! He and all of our members have worked extremely hard this school year.  Osberto has spent countless hours studying and practicing his events. It is so rewarding for our students to compete at this level and earn a trip to represent our school and district at the national level said BPA Chapter Co-Advisor Eric McGuire.
